As a good rule of thumb, check the product tag to make sure it is at least 95% cotton.

Preflats require 2 swaddles, 1 XL T-Shirt, or materials of a similar size

Fitteds can be made from 2-4 layers of most textiles - old terry nappies, T-Shirts, Swaddles, etc.

Muslin swaddles are perfect for soft wipes, depending on the size of the swaddle you will get at least 4 double layer wipes from one swaddle.
